It has been six months since the visit of Asakuchi City officials and representative entrepreneurs to Cambodia, where they met with H.E. Heng Sour, the Minister of Labour and Vocational Training. During that visit, Mr. Kuriyama, the Mayor of Asakuchi City, committed to expanding opportunities for Cambodian intern trainees in the local labor market and establishing a support center for Cambodian workers in the city. We share a common goal of creating a “Cambodian Town” in Asakuchi City.
 

On the 15th of October, As the Executive Committee Chair of Cambodia-Japan Kibou Association （CJKA), H.E Ngouv Hayliang has the opportunity to attend a meeting with the Mayor of Asakuchi City and entrepreneurs from eight companies. The city presented the findings from a recent survey conducted with 14 companies to gauge the demand for Cambodian intern trainees. The results were promising:

• 90% of the companies expressed a willingness to accept Cambodian intern trainees, although some concerns were raised about language barriers and differences in working culture.

​

• 70% of the companies expressed interest in participating in a business trip to Cambodia to explore further opportunities in business and investment.

​

CJKA is working closely and actively with Asakuchi City to ensure the success of this initiative.
